In this class you will create stunning, dimensional, color intense collage, using stamped imagery and mixed media techniques.

Used in this class are paints, inks, metal tape, paper, string and a self-leveling gel to finish and add strength to your artwork.

This class can be applied to all paper art media, artist trading cards, altered books, canvas or as is, matted and framed.

Create a collage sprinkled with found fragments, ink, and acrylic washes.

Learn collage and composition basics, how to easily create your own inked and washed images, and explore ways to alter and embellish a variety of found treasures.

You will build your collage on heavy watercolor paper, and layer it on a sturdy base heavy enough to support the elements you want to incorporate (such as found treasures, heavy fabric, or more watercolor paper).

Add your own writing, stamped messages, or text torn from books, to complete your work of art.

No painting experience needed… this is a relaxed and fun workshop, yet limitless in possibilities and inspiration.

The earth offers tactile and durable materials for use in artistic expression.

In this project-focused workshop, students will learn how to transform and build up sheet metal, adding vintage and found elements to the cover of the book using basic metal-smithing techniques and materials.

Students will also learn the nuances of plaster and various plaster-like products to create pages and unexpected journal surfaces to stockpile between the palm-sized metal covers.

Various ways to combine paper and plaster pages for writing, painting and collage surfaces using knotting and binding techniques will also be taught.

Each student can expect to take home a completed or very nearly complete blank mini art journal home with them at the end of class day.
